Hi everyone, I've just recently gotten into the Witcher franchise through the tv show. I'm wanting to look further into the world, as I would like to know more of the backstory behind each character. Is it best to read the books, or play the games for this?

So I played the games and read most of the books, and I suggest reading the books first. Don't get me wrong, the games are AMAZNG, but could sort of influence your view on the show. The games and books are separate takes on the same origins.

Characters like Yen don't really have a substantial backstory (that was added in the show). The books are mostly through Geralt's view, so the show wanted to flesh well-known characters more.
