The Witcher Casts Rebecca Hanssen as Queen Meve

After a brief shut down due to positive COVID tests earlier in November, the cast and crew continue to work safely on season two. Today it was learned that actor Rebecca Hanssen (Enola Holmes, A Christmas Carol) has been cast as the role of Queen Meve.

According to Redanian Intelligence and Hanssen’s CV, she will be directed by Sarah O’ Gorman and Ed Bazalgette. With each director involved with two episodes each, Gorman with episodes 3 and 4, and Bazalgette helming 5 and 8, Hanssen’s involvement could be a sizeable one this season.

In the books written by Andrzej Sapkowski, Queen Meve is the head strong leader of Lyria. Although widowed in the books she is a force to reckoned with, and a formidable foe in battle. Hanssen seems young in comparison to the books, but if casting choices by Sophie Holland are anything to go by, she will conquer her scenes beautifully.
